The Resort consists of Hotel Eldorado, Manteo, Eldorado Marina, Lakeside Dining and Maestros Mediterranean, offering world-class amenities including the outlets, conference space, gyms, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, lakeside boardwalk, tennis & pickleball courts, and a private beach.


Position Summary: 

This position will oversee all aspects of Eldorado Marina operations which includes 300 slips, moorage, winter storage, food & beverage as well as retail operations. The Marina Manager is responsible for rental activity, fueling operations, safety, guest services, team leadership, coordination of sub-contractors, developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, inventory control, retail, accounting, and timekeeping.


What will you be doing? 

You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard: 

  • Providing direct leadership supervision and “24/7” leadership to the Marina team with an emphasis on training relating to retail, boating operations, and fueling procedures to improve guest service
  • Providing leadership to all employees by demonstrating a professional attitude, strong work ethic and “whatever it takes” attitude in and out of the Marina department
  • Maintaining a positive, friendly working environment where all employees can feel comfortable and safe
  • Develop, implement and audit standard operating procedures, accounting procedures, checklists and inventory control.
  • Cleanliness/Organization – maintaining high standard of watercraft cleanliness by “hands on approach” and training, general organization at Marina for retail side, garbage/recycling, and storage shack/equipment/vests
  • Safety/Emergency Preparedness – ensure proper safety equipment stored on watercraft, devise and monitor staff safety procedures at Marina, fuel dock and during watercraft rundowns
  • Conflict Management – deliver high level of guest service and professional judgment for any challenges that may arise at Marina
  • Co-ordinate all aspects of seasonal & nightly moorage to accommodate our guests’ needs
  • Maintaining a positive, working relationship with all Marina vendors
  • Effectively manage rentals, facility, and customer service to optimize profitability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, record keeping, and time management skills to complete all activities on time.
  • Enforce all policies, procedures, and ordinances dealing with the operation and maintenance of the marina.
  • Maintain service buildings and Marina grounds.
  • Supervise fuel dock operation to ensure services to patrons.
  • Frequent communication with General Manager & ownership regarding rental revenues, staff scheduling/labor costs, purchases/invoices, inventory, cash/gas discrepancies, hiring and admin procedures
  • Report to General Manager any guest and staff challenges, major watercraft damages, accidents, gas/maintenance concerns and promotional initiatives
  • Sales/Administration – clear understanding of till operations, cash out procedures, pump readings/fuel discrepancies, merchandise & inventory control
  • Rental Reservations – consistent completion of rental agreements, watercraft check in/out forms and safety rundowns
  • Watercraft Maintenance/Repairs – follow up and collection for rental damage, consistent use of maintenance log and servicing for all watercraft
  • Staff Training/Scheduling – consistent coaching, adjusting shifts based on weather, use of logbook for staff and guest concerns, planning ahead for next day rentals/staffing
  • Promotion/Special Events – Display an entrepreneurial drive to improve awareness for the Marina in building strong community relationships and improving sales
  • Lead Spring fleet installation and Fall marina closure
  • Oversee maintenance work throughout the facility to ensure safe property and equipment.
  • Supervise safe and efficient docking of boats.
  • Proper maintenance, storage, and cleaning of all vintage boats to ensure they are consistently in best show condition. Additional resources (specialist external expertise, training, other resources) are required for success.


What are we looking for? 

  • Experience in marina operations on a management level including moorage, fuel, retail & soft goods
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to master new technologies
  • During the season work hours include weekends, holidays, evenings and a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • S.V.O.P designation preferred
  • Intuitive
  • Sales and Marketing background an asset
  • Mechanically efficient
  • Must have valid BC Driver’s License and Boat License operator’s card
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience in the areas of personnel and fiscal management.
  • Business Acumen
  • Expert knowledge of safe operation of watercraft.


People

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Ensures that effective orientation and training for all new CREW is planned and implemented.
  • Ensures on-going professional development and training programs for CREW
  • Approve the staffing and scheduling of department colleagues relative to forecast /budget and Guest service level expectations.
  • Monitor levels of colleague engagement and work with department head and HR to take corrective action based on CREW Engagement Survey and KPI
  • Ensures spontaneous, and monthly employee recognition program planned and implemented
  • Interact with Guests and audit Guest service on a routine, random basis
  • Monitor levels of Guest Satisfaction and assure corrective actions based on Guest Survey, Online reputation, and KPI


Sales

  • Ensures all colleagues have expert product knowledge
  • Oversee sales techniques and training to increase revenues
  • Research new products and develop an analysis of the ROI benefits
  • Help plan and assure all internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the Hotel are completed in a timely manner


Standards

  • Helps develop and implements policies and procedures for Marina and Resort
  • Enforce service standards for all positions within the Marina and Resort
  • Maintains ambiance, appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of Marina and Resort
  • Monitors standards for all designed experiences within Marina and Resort
  • Ensures that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met
  • Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including laws pertaining to service of alcoholic beverages and food safety and sanitation
