Position Summary

Reporting to the Resort Controller, the Resort Accountant assists with the day to day, monthly, and annual operations of the accounting department that manages Manteo Resort, Hotel Eldorado, and the Eldorado Yacht Club. The successful applicant is a self-starter and has keen attention to detail. This person works closely with other departments and is often the face of the team.

What will you be doing?
  • Review daily revenue postings in Opera (PMS), Squirrel (POS), MOLO (Yacht Club POS)
  • Prepare daily revenue journal entries to be posted in Accounting System
  • Review and Audit daily cash drops, tip contributions
  • Investigate Credit Card and Cash Variances
  • Credit Card / Gift Card – Reconcile daily and address any variances, IT related Moneris issues
  • Track and record the daily gratuity/due back liability
  • Facilitate funding for due-back distribution
  • Reconcile Cash Balance on Monthly Basis
  • Issue cash floats as required for new team members
  • Audit issued cash floats on a monthly basis
  • Manage petty cash and prepare monthly journal entry
  • Assist with guest inquiries related to credit card payment disputes
  • Support the Food & Beverage Team with monthly inventory counts and spot checks
  • Communicate and enforce SOPs as directed by resort executive team
  • Provide operational accounting and systems support to Marina team
  • Provide vacation coverage for Accounting team members when away
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
What are we looking for?
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Hospitality, working knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Intermediate working knowledge in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of accounting software
  • 1+ years Hotel Accounting experience
  • Credit Card / Gift Card processing and reconciling knowledge, Moneris preferred
  • PMS software experience, Opera/Fidelio preferred
  • POS Software experience, Squirrel preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet or exceed deadlines
  • Strong administration and organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Can work independently and in a team environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, can-do attitude
