Position Summary:
The Whiskey Specialist will assist the Manager – Lakeside Dining in ensuring the overall success and profitability of the Bar through employee training, elevated service and hospitality, beverage quality and effective cost analysis while building and maintaining the best whiskey wall in British Columbia!

What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard:
 
  • Possess a deep understanding of whiskey including production methods, styles, flavour profiles, and the history of different distilleries and brands. 
  • Be able to identify and articulate the nuances of whiskey and aromas.
  • Be able to recommend food pairings that complement specific whiskeys.  
  • Hands on involvement in creating unique cocktail menus, recipes, and training syllabus
  • Costing beverage menus within budget guidelines as well as staying in line with local competitors
  • Responsible for the training of all new bartenders joining the team using a ‘show me’ approach; ensures their training meets the high standard of Eldorado Resort, and follow-up training is done
  • Responsible for training and motivating the bar team on spirits, signature cocktails and craft beer
  • Constantly networking, building a new customer base while retaining existing clientele through loyalty, experience, and relationships
  • Implement on-shift, daily, and weekly checklist routines and duties
  • Utilizes a continuous improvement approach to ensure a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation
  • Ensure the vibe of the bar is on point; music, lighting, sightlines, guest engagement, and cleanliness
  • Create a fun, safe and exciting working environment, championing health and safety initiatives
  • Lead by example and provide strong leadership to our service and support team
  • Weekly meeting with General Manager – Lakeside Dining on systems and procedures, bar products and review of variance reports; full understanding of LWB budgets
  • Places and receives weekly liquor, wine and draft orders and tracks all invoices and returns
  • Invoices entered into Optimum Control and sent to accounting team
  • Ensures Order Guide pars reflect the changes in the sales forecast/seasons
  • Prep Chart updated weekly against sales forecast
  • Follow Eldorado Resort ordering procedures while staying in line with the budget
